⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
After hearing that Sarah J Maas was influenced by this series when writing ACOTAR, I knew I had to read it! The first book starts off incredibly dark and honestly really weird so be warned before you begin 😂 but it’s totally worth the disturbing weirdness to push through. The character development was a lot of fun and the world building was extensive and fascinating— very different than anything else I had read before. As a bonus, it was really fun to catch all the different elements SJM borrowed for ACOTAR as well from the mythology to the characters themselves. There are very clear Rhys and Cassian characters and several others that clearly influenced certain characters.
The books also had a very clever sense of humor that I really enjoyed, especially when it came to the animals. If anyone decides to read these, please let me know! I’d love to discuss. I’m about to start the next chronological book after the trilogy ends. ☺️
Content Rating: R (mainly for violence/SA, particularly in book 1)
