Why Should You And Your Family Read?

My main motivator for reading is just the fact that it’s fun 😂 but when I noticed an improvement in my mental health when reading more consistently I decided to do some research on reading and found some really interesting statistics about the benefits.

Check out the following stats to learn about why reading is important in all stages of our life and how it can improve our lives! From our physical and mental health to our potential for success, reading improves it all. Don’t forget to get your 20 minutes of daily reading in today. 😊

  • Kids who engage in 20 minutes of reading per day are likely to score better than 90% of their peers on standardized tests (Every Child Reads)

  • Reading can reduce stress by up to 68% and wellness statistics show reading can also lower your heart rate, blood pressure, and feelings of psychological distress (University of Minnesota)

  • Research indicates that reading habits have more influence on educational attainment than socio-economic status or having a parent with a degree (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development)

  • Reading can reduce mental decline in the elderly by 32% (Robert S. Wilson PHD)
